Trius Therapeutics, Inc. (www.triusrx.com) is a leading biotech company discovering and developing innovative antibacterial drugs for the treatment of life-threatening infections. Based in San Diego, the Company has an immediate opening for a self-motivated and experienced formulation chemist. The primary responsibilities of the position include developing formulations for novel compounds generated in our research program and advancing into in vivo studies. The successful candidate will have experience developing formulations suitable for both oral and parenteral routes of administration to rodents. The ideal candidate will be expected to operate HPLC and LC/MS equipment to characterize the availability / stability / homogeneity of the developed formulation.
A BS/MS degree and 5 years of pre-clinical research formulation experience or a PhD / Pharm D. degree in chemistry or pharmacology and a minimum of 2-3 years of pre-clinical research formulation experience are required. Ideal candidates will possess significant prior experience operating chromatographic instruments. Prior experience developing drug formulations for species in addition to rodents as well as analysis of PK samples and performing other quantitative ADME measurements would be a plus. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating hands on experience with LC/MS systems. This position requires superior communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment.
